History

Gobin’s first store was purchased by Ed and Sylvia Gobin from Don Warlick and George Schoenith in 1967.   It was called Arkansas Valley Office Supply and was located in Rocky Ford.  Rich Gobin worked there part time as a sales clerk.  In 1969 Ed and Sylvia purchased Butler Stationery in LaJunta from Mrs. Francis Butler.  It was also a Hallmark Gift store.  Sylvia managed the store and gift operation. It was at this location that Gobin’s started offering service on the office equipment they sold, and Rich started working full time in the service department.  The Lamar store was purchased from George Schoenith in 1975, Gobin’s Inc. was formed, and Bob Gobin took over operation of the Lamar location. Gobin’s Inc. took on the Savin franchise and began its start in the copier field.  In 1979 Gobin’s branched out to Cañon City.  It was the first store opened without purchasing an existing store.  Rich moved to Cañon City to manage that location. Gobin’s took on the Minolta franchise at that time. The Gobin’s store in Pueblo was opened in 1982 and eventually Gobin’s bought out Gene’s Office Machines. Bob moved to manage the Pueblo location and oversee the operation of the corporation. The next expansion was to Alamosa in 1990, with Ted Del Duca managing the operation.  The Salida store was opened in 1995 with Jason Gobin as manager.  Gobin’s latest expansion was into the Colorado Springs area in 2006.
