Cybersecurity: How to Protect a Hybrid Workforce

Transitioning to remote work came with many challenges, but your company persevered--and now that you can return to the office at least part-time and create a hybrid workforce, new challenges are arising. For example, what about cybersecurity? Do hybrid workforces face different risks than traditional workforces? Here's everything you need to know!

Cybersecurity at Home

Back when everything you did happened at the office, you probably had a lot of cybersecurity solutions in place--like managed IT services or high-end firewalls. When you transitioned to remote work, you had to adapt those solutions--and now that you're creating a hybrid workforce, you'll have to adapt them again.

The good news is that you don't have to leave any of your tech solutions behind. They all have a role to play in hybrid cybersecurity--you have to know how to utilize them!

Pay attention to your network.

When everyone was using work computers, it was easy to keep track of which employees connected to your network. Now, though, different devices may be accessing your network, both from work and at home--and it's more important than ever to make sure you recognize those devices (and their owners).

Protect devices.

Cybersecurity gets tricky when employees might be using any device in their homes while others use work machines. However, it's a little easier to ensure only secure devices are used for work when you implement endpoint protection solutions.

Utilize passwords more than ever.

Because documents and other data need to travel between work and home offices, maybe multiple times in the same day, it's especially important to implement strong password protection and other access control solutions.

Although hybrid cybersecurity poses its own challenges, it's far from impossible. Instead of letting yourself get overwhelmed--which is all too easy when it comes to cybersecurity--just take it one step at a time and remember that your existing tech tools can still be adapted to help you out.
